RGN (Removable Gooseneck)

The neck detaches so equipment drives on from the front. The low deck fits tall machines, and the axles slide to balance overweight loads, with permits and routing arranged.

Sliding the axles to balance the weight

Every axle group has a legal weight limit. On an RGN, the carrier slides the trailer axles forward or back to put the machine's weight where the axles can carry it. What is an RGN trailer and when do I need one?

An RGN (removable gooseneck) is a heavy-haul trailer whose front neck detaches, so equipment can drive or be winched onto a low deck. It is used for overweight and over-height loads such as excavators, dozers, drill rigs and large mining equipment. Carriers slide the trailer axles and the tractor's fifth wheel to balance the weight so every axle group stays within its limit, and add axles for the heaviest machines, with permits arranged.

Can you ship oversize and overweight mining and drilling equipment?

Yes. Overweight, over-height and over-width equipment moves on RGN and step deck carriers with the right permits, and routes are planned before pickup.

Do I need an RGN, a step deck or a flatbed?

It depends on the machine's height, weight and how it loads. A step deck fits taller machinery up to about 10 ft on its lower deck. An RGN goes lower still and handles overweight, drive-on equipment. A flatbed works for shorter heavy freight like drill pipe and steel, and can be tarped when needed.

Do you ship mining equipment between Canada and the US?

Yes, northbound and southbound, including Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba. Customs is coordinated through your broker or a licensed partner broker.

Can you move drilling supplies and crated parts?

Yes. Drill pipe, rods, bits, consumables and crated components ship on flatbed, dry van or partial truckload, depending on size and weight.
